New Barcoding Process

Hi I'm looking through my bar code spreadsheet and see there's duplicate products but with different bar code numbers for old and current prices. Are you creating new bar codes when there's a new price set e.g. product price increase? Due to COG I'm having to make slight adjustments to product pricing and would like to know best way to do this especially when it may impact on barcodes. Separately, what have people found is the best system for including a product description/price on the label with barcode or are people going with barcode only?
