Edinburgh Christmas Restocking

I was wondering if there were any changes for deliveries this year? From memory last year there was no parking or access near the shop after 0930 due to the ice rink and doible yellows on the lane at the back. The shop wasn't open at this time so the allowed loading period didnt apply to us. Dodging pedestrians, kerbs and cobbles after finding a space can be difficult while carrying boxes (I tripped last year).

No ice rink/pedestrianisation would be the dream. Apologies if I've missed any posts around this if it's already been discussed

Hi Rebecca, All our deliveries have to be brought to the store from parking at the end of the street. What I do is park in the bay area on North Castle St, next to the zebra crossing, with hazards on (as it is double yellow) and take what I need to take to the store. The traffic wardens are aware that there is an issue at this time of year for deliveries, so tend to give a little bit grace, certainly enough time to drop off stock. Then come back and park the car, if you need to spend more time in the store. If you want to be sure not to get a ticket, I would suggest writing on an A4 sheet of paper and place it in your front window, saying - delivering stock to Scottish Design Exchange. It is not just our end of George Street that is blocked off for the Christmas events, the main middle part is closed off too. As much as it is a pain for deliveries, it does help with sales when the ice rink is open, as it is used by thousands of visitors. Not only does this help with footfall at Christmas, it gives SDX exposure to visitors who see the store for the first time, and come back all year round. I would suggest if you have problems carrying stock, to get a small trolley. Many of the artists have these. Or you can come to the store before you unload the car and borrow a trolley from SDX, or ask the staff for help. Best wishes Lynzi
