Christmas Restocking

Christmas Restocking

Christmas is fast approaching, and as the stores get busier week by week until the end of the year, we are preparing to focus on customer service in the stores. To allow us to create the best possible sales for you at this time of year, we are giving notice of some key dates for restocking.

10th November - No new products or price changes will be facilitated by the store teams. Any Christmas stock you want to bring into the stores must be added to your stocklists for appointments as soon as possible. This should be done in the normal way, by adding the products to your stocklists and uploading via the hub when you book an appointment. Please make sure to note that these are new products on the stocklist so the staff have time to create the barcodes in the system in time for your appointment.

New products that were added in October will now become existing products, and your barcodes will have been uploaded to your folder. Once you have been provided with barcode labels for your new products the first time you bring them to the store, you will then be required to add these products to the stocklist in the future as existing products and prepare your own barcodes for future stocking appointments. If you don’t have your new products in your folder within one week after your initial appointment, please let us know. We will continue to provide you with barcode labels the first time you add new products, until the 10th of November.

15th December – Last day for restocking before Christmas. After the 10th of November, you can continue to restock existing products in the normal way until the 15th of December, when we will no longer be able to take in any more stock until the new year.

As our booking system requires you to book one week in advance, please be aware that the last day you will be able to book an appointment for restocking before Christmas will be the 8th of December. The last day you will be able to book an appointment for new products to be added will be the 3rd of November.

I believe there has been a problem with our booking system on our hub when using a phone, due to the confirm button being concealed by the logo at the bottom of the page on the booking form. This has now been fixed. Apologies to anyone who has had a problem with this. We are currently having development work done on the hub, and this was affected by this work. If you find you still have an issue, please let us know so we can speak to the development team and rectify the problem.

I want to thank you for your continued support with the changes to our barcoding process. It has been a lot of work on both sides, but I have been really encouraged by the positive feedback we have received from artists who have been in the store and managed their barcoding. This will greatly improve the service we provide around restocking in the new year.

As always, if you have any questions or need any help, please let us know. It would be great if you can try to use the hub as it is much easier for us to answer questions for everyone at once, rather than answering the same questions by individual emails. Craig and Jude will have access to the hub in the run-up to Christmas, so they can provide support and allow the shop staff to focus on customer service and helping you get your products in the stores in time for Christmas.

I am excited to see how the year ends, as both stores’ sales figures are up month on month from last year. The George Street store has seen a huge increase in sales compared to last year, due in part to us being able to advertise the store from our Makers Market at the Tron Kirk on the Royal Mile. But, as our Glasgow store is a recognized location for Christmas shopping and is well supported by the people of Glasgow, we are sure both stores will do very well this year.

Already, without the boost of Christmas sales to come, the Edinburgh store is up £177,000 on last year, with the Glasgow store up £20,000. Both stores are projected to go over £1 million in sales by the end of this year. This is an amazing achievement for the store teams, as we continue to buck the trend on the High Street.

I am sure you will join me in congratulating the store teams for all their hard work and dedication to making SDX a place for artists and designers to sell their work, and a place where customers love to shop.

Thank you!

Best regards,

Lynzi
